Sneak Peek of WordPress 2.7 Features

Date September 16, 2008

We gotta say that we love WordPress so much. Its simplicity and tons of customization options have give us a crush from head to toe :) .

OK, we might be a little carried away up there, but seems its not just us. The Wordpress team also do. Check out their upcoming plans for Wordpress.

From the blog of Ryan Boren, lead developer of WordPress and a co-conspirator at Automattic, we manage to get a sneek peek of the upcoming WordPress 2.7 features. Here are some of them :

  • New admin UI with new menus and navigation (great, another eye candy !)
  • Inline editing of posts and pages on the content index pages
  • Comments XMLRPC API (Ryan states that this could lead to mobile comment moderation using cellphones…cool !)
  • Reply to comments from the admin (This is what we’ve been looking for !)
  • Keyboard hot keys for managing comments (bring it on !)
  • Threaded Comments
  • Sticky Posts (finally, no more plugin for stickies !)
  • Automatic plugin install and integrated plugin browser ( the end of One Click Plugin Updater ?)
  • Automatic upgrade of WordPress (bye, bye WPAU…we will miss you *sniff*)
The whole package look promising, as this will ease bloggers on editing, moderating comments and modding their blogs. Let’s just see if Ryan and his whole team deliver their promises.
